Good Boy

by Daniel Guy Andy is twenty-six and a bit stressed about his life and his girlfriends and his uninspiring job, so he takes a drive out to a local beauty spot, walks up a woodland path to the top of a hill, stands on a ridge in the late afternoon sunshine and stares out over a very pleasant lush green valley.   This lean, good-looking, bright young man leans against a tree and lights a spliff.   The blissful peace is interrupted by a sound close by of leaves rustling.   He looks round.   A golden Labrador, young and full of life, appears through the bushes and then scampers over. Andy smiles, leans down to stroke it, watches as it sniffs his jeans. Then from the woodland behind him he hears a woman calling out, 'Boris!'  Recognising its owner's voice, the Labrador freezes for a moment and then barks back as if to say - I'm here, look what I've found! Dead or Alive

by Daniel Guy Ned was working late.   His wife was at a party so it didn’t matter. He was editing the best of the many digital photos he’d taken earlier that evening, of a twenty-three year old model called Sarah. She was happy to pose naked and she had been fun to work with. Ned was pleased with some of the shots he’d taken. He’d been lecturing at a local college for twenty years and finally packed it in so he could pursue his dream of becoming a photographer. He’d been renting the studio for a couple of months and so far everything was going well.   The space he’d found was a large room with high ceilings and big windows, located on the first floor of an old red brick factory in the heart of London’s old industrial East End.   It was Friday night, everyone had gone home and the rest of the building was dark and quiet and empty.
